COURTYARD

For this small space we wanted to balance the surrounding heavy verticals so we added in some more. This works because it lifts the eye when you are in the garden, which pulls in the sky and the wide open which increases the feeling of space in the garden.

Planting was as wild and free-form as possible to soften the hard structures, acting to contrast and emphasise the beauty of the soft and the solid.

From inside, the garden became a seamless extension of living space with easy to maintain materials and multiple spaces to entertain family and relax in comfort.
